This online conference strives to reinforce the vision of Fair Trade – a world where justice and sustainability are at the heart of trade structures and practices, allowing every person to enjoy a secure livelihood. Within these challenging times – particularly in regard to Build Back Fairer efforts in post Covid-19 time. By bringing together the international actors of the Fair Trade and sustainability movements, we aim to provide a platform for exchange of learnings and good practices to strengthen.

The opening will start with a welcome from the Swiss representatives of Swiss Fair Trade and SECO. Monica Rubiolo, Head of Trade Promotion at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), will also give an opening speech. Afterwards there will be a panel discussion on the main theme of the conference “Strengthen Fair consumption in cities – empowering Farmers and Producers in a Build Back Fairer Time”. Before the panel discussion starts, Isabelle Durant, Deputy Secretary-General of UNCTAD will give a keynote speech and show the latest development in international trade, sustainability and the link to Fair Trade.

The panelist will discuss different sustainability movements and how they can create synergies between them to better support and empower farmers and producers in the South. Moderator of the panel is Sergì Corbalan, Executive director of the Fair Trade Advocacy Office (FTAO) in Brussels.
